Bringing pet adoption and fostering
to you, anywhere.
Pounce was created to help you find a local pet quickly and easily from the comfort of home. We wanted to create a platform that would dramatically increase the amount of local animals being adopted and fostered by people.
According to the ASPCA, approximately 6.5 million companion animals enter U.S. animal shelters nationwide every year. Of those, approximately 1.5 million shelter animals are euthanized (670,000 dogs and 860,000 cats) each year.
By supporting the use of Pounce and encouraging people and organizations to list their pets on Pounce we can increase in the percentage of animals being adopted and lower the percentage of animals being euthanized.
Making the choice
Adopting and fostering a pet can both be an awesome experience. So it's up to you to choose which is better for you and the environment you'll be bringing a new pet into.
Adoption is taking responsibility for a pet that a previous owner may have abandoned or released to a shelter or rescue organization.
Fostering is providing temporary care to shelter animals who need to live in a home environment prior to adoption. Pet fostering can be good if you're interesting in temporarily homing a pet.
